Atlético wins after 101 minutes
Liverpool FC started the Champions League with a debacle. At SSC Naples, the Reds lost significantly on Wednesday with 1: 4 (0: 3). On the other hand, Robert Lewandowski showed his top class for FC Barcelona in a 5-1 (3-1) win against Viktoria Pilsen with three goals (34th minute/45th+3/67th) before the duel on Tuesday at his former club Bayern Munich .
The Pole scored six, seven and eight goals in his fifth competitive game for FC Barcelona and confirmed his top form. Lewandowski is the first player in the history of the “premier class” to have scored at least one hat-trick for three different clubs. He had previously done so for Munich and Borussia Dortmund.
“Robert is insatiable,” enthused his coach Xavi after the game. “I’m running out of praise because it’s not just the goals. Also how he plays, how he controls the pace of the game.” Bayern should have been warned by now at the latest. The other goals against Pilsen were scored by Franck Kessié (13′) and Ferran Torres (71′).
Klopp served in Naples after Liverpool bankruptcy: “A lot of things are missing”
Jürgen Klopp’s Liverpool started even worse in the Champions League after a mixed start to the season in the English Premier League. Napoli surprised the Reds with a lot of offensive power. Piotr Zielinski converted a hand penalty (5th). Ex-Wolfsburg Victor Osimhen even missed a penalty kick (18th). André Zambo Anguissa (31st) and Giovanni Simeone (44th) and again Zielinski (47th) increased to 4:0. Luis Díaz was only able to reduce the deficit to 1:4 (49th).
Klopp was visibly served after the bankruptcy. “A lot of things are missing. We don’t work as a team. It has nothing to do with personal things or anything else,” said the coach of the traditional English club late on Wednesday evening, explaining: “I need time to think about it. It’s my job to find out.”

The early 0-1 was not decisive for Klopp. The 55-year-old was particularly annoyed by the goals conceded by Anguissa and Simeone. “We served these goals on a plate,” complained the former Bundesliga coach and continued to scold: “We were never really in the game. We weren’t compact, either defensively or offensively.” Liverpool defender Andy Robertson felt that Napoli “were a man up”. “They were the much better team,” said the Scot, adding: “We have to get back to basics and be compact.”
Liverpool is only seventh in the Premier League. A win is a must against Wolverhampton on Saturday. In the “premier class” the Klopp team is already under pressure next Tuesday (9:00 p.m.) on the 2nd match day against Ajax Amsterdam, who convincingly dominated Glasgow Rangers 4-0. “There’s a lot missing,” criticized Klopp. “We have to try and find a setup to get a lot better at pretty much everything.”
Tottenham defeats Marseille – wild final phase in Madrid
Tottenham Hotspur had big problems for a long time with Olympique Marseille, next Tuesday’s opponents of Eintracht Frankfurt, despite being outnumbered (red card for Chancel Mbemba/47.) and came through Richarlison (76./81.) to make it 2-0 (0 :0).
Leverkusen’s next opponent Atlético Madrid came in the 11th minute of stoppage time through Antoine Griezmann to a 2-1 (0-0) against FC Porto. Mario Hermoso (90 + 1) was only successful for the Spaniards, but a short time later played the ball with his hand in his own penalty area. Mateus Uribe sunk the penalty due (90+6). Then came the great performance of world champion Griezmann.
