Africa Cup: hosts Cameroon in the semi-finals

Douala (AP) – Host Cameroon has reached the semi-finals of the Africa Cup. The five-time title holder defeated the blatant outsider Gambia 2-0 (0-0) in Douala and now meets the winner of the game between Egypt with superstar Mohamed Salah and Morocco on Wednesday.

Burkina Faso also reached the top four with a 1-0 (1-0) win over Tunisia. Next opponent is Senegal or Equatorial Guinea on Wednesday.

Match winner for Cameroon was Toko Ekambi with two goals (50th and 57th minute). FC Bayern will therefore have to wait for striker Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting, who was not used.

For Gambia, however, the football fairy tale is coming to an end. The world number 150. with Germany legionnaire Baboucarr Gaye from the regional league team Rot-Weiss Koblenz in goal, they sensationally won the group stage with seven points, ahead of Tunisia and others, and eliminated Guinea in the round of 16.
