Is this really the solution for dedicated nurses? After the argument about exceptions to parking fees around the Virchow-Klinikum campus, the Charité bosses are asking employees to use the BVG!
Charité employees have been protesting for weeks about a new parking zone around Seestrasse. They fear high fees if they come to work by car and have threatened to be fired.
On the intranet of the state-owned clinic, the board of directors said on Tuesday: “The Charité would like to encourage its employees to use local public transport or bicycles to get to work.”
A compromise was negotiated with the Senate and district office for employees whose shift begins before 6 a.m. But health expert Florian Kluckert (46, FDP) is not enough: “The succinct reference to BVG and S-Bahn is cheeky. Even when work starts shortly after 6 a.m., the connections from the surrounding area or the outskirts are poor.”
Kluckert continues: “Why doesn’t the Charité rent parking spaces in the multi-storey car park on campus for the affected employees?” The house is operated by Contipark and offers 764 spaces.
