After his maiden victory on the European Tour, golf pro Maximilian Kieffer set himself a very special goal. On Monday, the 32-year-old was back on the course at a Bayer Leverkusen charity golf tournament.
After the Werkself’s “not-so-perfect start to the season” in the Bundesliga, he is happy to “bring a few positive vibes with him so that they can get on track better,” joked Kieffer in the “Sky” interview.
The self-confessed Leverkusen fan from Düsseldorf started his journey home from Prague on Sunday night after his triumph, which brought him prize money of EUR 291,660.
“We celebrated a bit in Prague, had something to drink and eat. The return journey was pleasant,” said Kieffer, who was the first German to win a tournament on the European tour after Marcel Siem in 2014.
He hopes that a few more wins will follow. “The feeling is sensational. It’s just pure joy. Before I won, I had a great life. That makes it even more special,” said Kieffer, who has set himself another major goal of qualifying for the British Open.
