On working days, Steven Van Gucht (46) hangs over the microscope to stare at minuscule viruses, but on holiday the well-known virologist broadens his view as a nature photographer. “I don’t consider myself a great person at all, but when my mother died young I thought it was a shame that we hardly had any pictures of her. That is why I now try to capture so many beautiful moments.”
