Local hero Tobias Potye surprisingly won silver at the European Athletics Championships in Munich.
The 27-year-old cleared 2.27 m and celebrated the biggest success of his career. Gold went to Olympic champion Gianmarco Tamberi from Italy with 2.30 m. Bronze went to the Ukrainian Andrij Prozenko, who, like Potye, managed 2.27 m – but made two failed attempts at 2.23.
Defending champion Mateusz Przybylko was sixth this time with 2.23 m. Jonas Wagner failed at the initial height of 2.18 m.
