Monterosa tellsthe literary review that for 5 years has animated the summers of Champoluc in the Aosta Valleyfrom a series of meetings in the bookstore it has grown to welcome the whole Val d’Ayas. The program is as varied as the places where the meetings take place. “Ours is a traveling exhibition, for each meeting we look for the best place” he explains Francesco Deambrogi, President of the Monterosa Association tells and creator of the review. “The issues addressed are also different, we don’t want to limit ourselves to mountain stories”.
Monterosa tells, not only mountain stories
So, after being kidnapped by the tales of Massimo Beltrame and Patrick Gabarrou at the presentation of the compelling volume “Monte Rosa. 250 years of climbing in the voice of the protagonists”(Edizioni Zeisciu) to be read as an exciting mountain novel; in the next few days – between the main review and the Extra – Valeria Tron will be able to present “The balance of fireflies”(Salani) accompanied by voices and music by Luis De Jyaryot and Maura Susanna, or Julien Bertolin talk about his “The pantry of memories”(Il Ciliegio edizioni) sharing childhood memories linked to the world of cooking.
But this season has also seen Alberto Rollo read “The beast in the jungle“By Henry James in the village of Fiery (1788 mt) which is accessed after a small ascent from St Jacques. A suggestive place that offers a magnificent view over the valley.
Monterosa tells: the next appointments
Some scheduled in the next few days appointments not to be missed which are worth the trip to Champoluc. On 18 August Francesco Casoloauthor of “The ascent of the Giants. The Menabrea saga”(Feltrinelli), will tell the exciting saga of the Menabrea family, on its way from Gressoney to Biella to start the production of the beer of the same name in the second half of the nineteenth century. August 24Luigi Barnaba Frigoli will present his “Warrior. The incredible story of Bona Lombardi“(Rizzoli), biography of greatest woman in arms following Francesco Sforza in Italy in the 15th century, accompanied by the scenic reading of the text and a selection of live music from the Renaissance period.
On August 27, the little ones will be able to discover the very difficult world of dragon breeding with Maria Gaia Belli, author of “The Dorsal vol. 1 – The year of iron”(Effequ 2021) in the creative workshop“ Who wants a racing dragon? Or a pet dragon to keep in the garden? ”, Recommended for ages 12 and up.
Paolo Cognetti and the great North
In the same day, Paolo Cognetti and Nicola Magrin will present the documentary “Dreams of the Great North“On their trip from the Alps to Alaska. A journey into nature to explore the relationship of man with the surrounding environment and relive the places of the great American writers, from Carver to Thoreau passing through London and Hemingway, in search of a balance with nature.
After the debate with the protagonists, the documentary will be screened in the hall.
The mountain in the verses of Antonia Pozzi
