The beauty of the town of Cadaqués did not come out of nowhere. Surely the first masons in charge of building the fishermen’s houses must already have been people with a special aesthetic sensibility. However, those that were decisive in making it the Catalan population with the fewest architectural nonsense were architects Peter Harden and Lanfranco Bombelli. They are truly responsible for the fact that in the 1960s personalities from the world of art, literature and architecture met in this beautiful Dalí town. And I say this because Marc Arnal, academic director of the architecture degrees at La Salle URL, has paid tribute to these two references in his book ‘L’art de viure’ (Comanegra publishing house).
A few days after his presentation, the Arnal, together with Vicenç Altaió, Isona Passola and Jordi Cuixart they stayed to eat. The heat was suffocating and they say that the idea came up to call Pilar Rahola to take a dip in her pool. Well, you know how the matter ended. There was a bath, water pistol fights, laughter and songs in favor of independence. And there was a video, of course, and Rahola posted it, of course, and got involved again on social networks, of course. Visiting Rahola’s house has those risks. You can be photographed while people make imaginary movies of what happened. In short, not everything happens in Cadaqués at Rahola’s house, nor is everything that happens in that house as scandalous as some want to see it.
By the way, in Cadaqués I was also able to greet Albert Batett, the president of Junts in Parliament. A nice guy who this year has chosen this Empordà town to rest for a few days with his wife and his two young children. Indeed, it will be good for him to gain strength if he wants to try to solve the internal chaos of Junts. The first thing that is expected is that they appoint Xavier Trias candidate for mayor of Barcelona. We’ll see if they can agree. The next day I saw the lawyer Gonzalo Boye and later to Joaquim Forn, although the latter is one of the landlines of Cadaqués. Of course, the three of them, later, I also saw them in a photo with Rahola…
More than just a restaurant
Speaking of Cadaqués, on Monday I received a call from Pere Vehi. He proposes to accompany him to eat at the Miramar restaurant of his friend, Paco Perez in Llanca. Pere Vehí, nothing to do with Vehils, is one of the guys who knows the most about Dalí in the whole world. He knows the work of the painter from Empordà like no one else and only he can discover details in his paintings that are invaluable to the rest of the human race. Cadaqués owes a lot to him and should take more care of characters like Vehí who, in addition to his history with Dalí, has run the popular Boia bar for a lifetime.

For its part, the Miramar is the best restaurant on the entire Spanish coast. Its two stars seem few after tasting the menu of the sea. The truth is that it has an extraordinary merit to maintain that stratospheric level 160 km from Barcelona. Paco Pérez is the chef and owner together with his wife Montse Serra. Between the two of them they pamper the client and on top of that now they already have the help and professionalism of his son Guillem and his daughter Zaira. The latter combines her profession as an actress with that of a restorer. In short, all some ‘cracks’.
From Sans to Corbacho
Speaking of ‘cracks’ this week I have heard of two others. Passing through Barcelona I coincided with Carlos Sans. He tells me that he has interrupted his vacation because on Friday he was performing in Huesca and this Saturday in Sitges. After Tricicle, now, her show ‘Por fin solo’, is being a success and receives requests from all over Spain. So much so that in mid-September she will return to the Borràs theater. I caught Sans talking to Joseph Corbacho. Another actor who does not rest in summer either. Over the weekend he performed at the Pedra Viva Festival in Ciutadella. He did it with Ramon Gener in the musical show ‘Love, love, love’. Corbacho and Gener, each in their own way, introduce songs by Elvis Presley or Coldplay mixed with works by Bach, Mozart or Beethoven. There are moments as surreal as tremendous. It is very worth it. The week before La Mercè they repeat at the Tívoli. By the way, in Menorca the ex-president of Barça did not miss it, Joseph Maria Bartomeu.
