About 150 people sat on a train for at least an hour and fifteen minutes on Saturday, which was stranded at Zevenbergschen Hoek. A first attempt to evacuate them via another train failed. Because the temperature was so high both inside and outside, the passengers were given water. The use of buses was also in vain. At a quarter past five an extra train showed up. This meant that passengers could finally get out and transfer, according to the Dutch Railways and rail manager ProRail.

The problems started around 4 a.m. At a place where the high-speed section changes to a regular track, things went wrong for unknown reasons. This caused the train to come to a stop. This had consequences for train traffic on the Dordrecht – Roosendaal and Rotterdam Central – Breda routes.
