Writer Salman Rushdie stabbed in New York | Abroad

Rushdie was due to give a speech in upstate New York, about 470 kilometers from New York City. Eyewitnesses report that he is being treated on stage. Nothing is known about the perpetrator yet. He has been arrested.

Rushdie became famous for his novels Midnight Children and The Devil’s Verses. For the latter book, the Iranian leader Imam Khomeini issued a death fatwa in 1989 against Rushdie for insulting Prophet Mohammed.
