Leverkusen striker in focus
Following the signings of Marc Oliver Kempf (26, VfB Stuttgart) and Fredrik André Björkan (23, FK Bodø/Glimt), Hertha BSC will most likely make at least one more move in the winter transfer window. “I can’t promise one hundred percent whether something else will happen, but I’m confident that something can still work out,” said sporting director Fredi Bobic in mid-January. According to the “Kicker”, a new center forward enjoys the highest priority for the Berliners.
According to the magazine, the capital club has promising chances with Bayer Leverkusen’s Lucas Alario. The 29-year-old Argentinian, who is tied until 2024, will leave the “Werkself” early in the summer at the latest. It is not unlikely that his departure will accelerate if the offensive man Sardar Azmoun (27), who has already been committed for the summer, comes to Leverkusen from Zenit St. Petersburg six months earlier.
It is said that Hertha followed “several tracks” when looking for a striker – the choice now apparently fell on Alario, who was willing to change. “The plan is to leave Leverkusen in the summer. Lucas then completed a cycle there. In addition, more strikers are coming,” his advisor Pedro Aldave recently told “Bild”. Several clubs from Germany and abroad are also said to be interested, and Eintracht Frankfurt is also said to have reported. A rental deal is also under discussion.

In addition to Alario, things are also likely to accelerate with SM Caens winger Kelian Nsona. The Ligue 2 club is pushing for a transfer of the 19-year-old this winter. “We will keep working to ensure that he comes to you before January 31,” club president Olivier Pickeu told France Bleau. It is an “open secret” that Nsona wants to move to Berlin.
Hertha BSC wants several newcomers – remain strong and Boyata (for the time being)
That’s not all: According to the “Kicker”, Hertha BSC might want to bring in another player for the wing and a right-back. In return, as of now, nothing will happen. Central defender Niklas Stark (26, contract ends) and captain Dedryck Boyata (31, contract until 2024), who is reportedly in demand in Turkey, should remain with the Bundesliga club at least until the end of the season.
