After the end of his tennis career, Philipp Kohlschreiber can also imagine a coaching job at some point.
“Not at first, but who knows what will happen in two years. That certainly depends on the player. But working as a mentor for talented people, to explain a lot to them from my point of view, that would be fun for me,” said Kohlschreiber “Sueddeutsche Zeitung”. “I don’t have a coaching license and I don’t know if that would help me, but I do know how to build a player in the off-season.”
Kohlschreiber ended his career in June after qualifying for the grass classic in Wimbledon. He wants to end the year now. “My plan is to finish the Bundesliga season for TC Großhesselohe and then put the bat down,” said the 38-year-old. There have not yet been any talks with the German Tennis Association, but there is no hurry either.
Kohlschreiber: First do “things for me”.
“I’ll also get a taste of some tasks. I’m really noticing now: It’s nice at home. You have to imagine that: In 20 years I’ve never been at home for more than six to eight weeks. You were always driven. Now I’m doing it Things for me,” emphasized the man from Augsburg, who is to be honored at the Davis Cup in Hamburg in September.
Kohlschreiber has won eight tournaments in his career, including three titles on clay in Munich and one victory on grass in Halle. In Wimbledon, the long-time German Davis Cup player was in the quarterfinals in 2012, and in the other three Grand Slam tournaments he made it to the round of 16. At the end of July 2012, Kohlschreiber was even 16th in the world rankings.
