Robert Lewandowski said goodbye to FC Bayern employees and his former teammates during a visit to Munich on Tuesday. A discussion with Oliver Kahn and Hasan Salihamidzic was also scheduled and left forgiving. However, fans of the record champions mocked the goalscorer.
In mid-July, Robert Lewandowski switched from FC Bayern to FC Barcelona after months of transfer poker.
As soon as the change was complete, a media dispute ensued, from which the world footballer accused those responsible at FC Bayern of having said “bullshit” about him.
The Munich bosses, in turn, defended themselves against the charmless and loud departure of the goalscorer. Now Lewandowski returned to Munich for two appointments on Monday and Tuesday.
FC Bayern: Robert Lewandowski continues “with a clean heart”
While he posed for photos with all the trophies he won from the German record champions at the beginning of the week, a big farewell was scheduled a day later.
The Polish national player drove up to Säbener Straße in his car in the morning.
Afterwards, he revealed to “Sky”, already ready to leave his vehicle, how his last hours in Munich went.
“It was pretty sad,” said Lewandowski. After that day, however, he could continue “with a clean heart”. He will always be grateful.
When asked how the conversation with sports director Hasan Salihamidzic went, who had previously shown his incomprehension about the statements made by the 33-year-old, Lewandowski reacted calmly. “It’s okay,” he said. “I also met everyone (bosses) there and thanked them for everything.”
He will never forget what the club gave him and what he experienced at Bayern. “The last few weeks have been a bit complicated for everyone, but that’s part of football,” added Lewandowski. The past eight years, however, would stay in his mind forever.
Hasan Salihamidzic: “We’ve sorted everything out”
Salihamidzic himself later gave an insight into the course of the meeting on the FC Bayern club website.
“Robert came to my office to say goodbye and we spoke for another 15 minutes. I addressed everything, we clarified everything,” said the Bosnian. “Robert did a great job for FC Bayern, it should be remembered. He also knows what he owes to FC Bayern. We wished him all the best for his new challenge.”
CEO Oliver Kahn was also happy about the last Servus Lewandowski. “It was nice that Robert stopped by my office again. We talked about everything, parted on good terms and will stay in touch in the future. Robert and FC Bayern, that was and is a special, successful one history,” said the club boss.
Robert Lewandowski mocked by FC Bayern fans
Lewandowski gave a special thank you to the supporters of FC Bayern.
“The fans have always been very important to me,” he said. “The Bayern fans will remain in my heart forever and I will never forget that.”
Or maybe yes? When Lewandowski left the underground car park on Säbener Straße in the red Audi, the fans waiting there said goodbye to him with shouts of “Hala Madrid” – the battle cry of Barca’s arch-rival Real Madrid.
