VfL Bochum easily survived the first round of the DFB Cup at fourth division FC Viktoria 1889 Berlin.
The Bundesliga soccer club won 3-0 (2-0) on Saturday (07/30/2022) in front of around 10,000 spectators in the Friedrich-Ludwig-Jahn-Sportpark.
At first, the relegated from the 3rd division kept up well, but with a double strike, the favorite made things clear quite early on. First, Simon Zoller pushed the ball in after a Gerrit Holtmann cross (19′).
Three minutes later, a poor reception of the ball by new signing Philipp Hofmann, who came from Karlsruher SC for Sebastian Polter, who had switched to FC Schalke 04, turned into a perfect assist. Takuma Asano used it to make it 2-0.
Hofmann dispels any remaining doubts
VfL also controlled the game in the second half. With his goal to make it 3-0 after a pass by Simon Zoller, Hofmann dispelled the last doubts about the progression of the favorite.
