Strong sprint: Marianne Vos on Friday (07/29/22) won the 6th stage of the Tour de France and celebrated her second victory of the day in the yellow jersey of the leader.
The Dutchwoman prevailed on the home straight after 128.6 km from Saint-Dié-des-Vosges – Rosheim after a strong start with a bike length advantage over Marta Bastianelli from Italy and Lotte Kopecky from Belgium. In the overall standings, the 35-year-old is 30 seconds ahead of Silvia Persico and Katarzyna Niewiadoma at the same time.
The German champion Liane Lippert came in 24th place in the daily ranking at the same time and still occupied 13th place in the overall ranking, 3:09 minutes behind Vos.
Although the German riders ultimately had nothing to do with the decision, Franziska Koch and Katrin Hammes were part of a 14-man lead group that was able to break away as the race progressed. At times the group was about two minutes ahead of the peloton, which eventually contained all the breakaways.
Heavy falls again
The series of serious falls continued on Friday. Two-time stage winner Lorena Wiebes (Netherlands/Team DSM) fell in her green jersey as the rider with the most points and, in tears, only reached the finish several minutes after the winner. However, Marianne Vos also leads in the sprint ranking.
The seventh stage goes on Saturday over 127.5 km from Selestat to Le Markstein Fellering. The next day, the Tóur de Femmes ends after 1033.6 km in La Planche des Belles Filles.
