Mayor Stef Strous would like to offer more places to Ukrainian refugees. Maasgouw has felt solidarity with the Ukrainian war victims from the start and has been offering shelter and housing since the war broke out. The need for shelter is increasing. That is why we are currently investigating whether it is possible to temporarily accommodate Ukrainian refugees on a river cruise ship. We are in consultation with, among others, the Central Government and Rijkswaterstaat. We will know at the beginning of September whether it will actually work,” says Strous.
