Day after day, five months after the start of the Russian war in Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelensky has proved himself victorious in Kiev. “This war has not broken Ukraine and will not break it,” he told Telegram on Sunday.

Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the invasion of the neighboring country on February 24, partly on the pretext that the nuclear power feels threatened by Ukraine’s rapprochement with NATO. “We will not give up,” Zelensky emphasized. “We will protect what is ours. We will win!”

Life in Ukraine continues despite the war, said Zelensky, who shared photos of his people’s struggle against the Russian invasion. “This (the war, ed.) will not make us hostages to the horror the invaders have brought to our land.”

Heavy Weapons

The president has repeatedly called on the United States and other NATO countries to provide heavy weapons to stop the Russian advance and liberate occupied territories. That is why he received a delegation from the US in Kiev on Saturday.

On Sunday, the 151st day of the war, the General Staff of the Ukrainian Army reported new attacks by the Russians, particularly in the Donetsk and Kharkiv regions. Some of the intruders were driven back, it sounded.

According to the General Staff, nearly 40,000 Russian soldiers have been killed since the start of the war. Western experts, however, assume that that number is much lower; the US and British intelligence services spoke of 15,000 last week. Russia last provided details of its own losses at the end of March. At the time, the Ministry of Defense in Moscow said 1,351 had been killed.
