Slipknot announce new album The End, So Far

Slipknot will release a new studio album, The Ends, So Far, on September 30th. The band around Corey Taylor reported on Wednesday (July 20).

Whether the announcement already heralds the final chapter of the alternative metal band, or whether it’s all just a clever game remains to be seen. The fact is that once again it’s not about the sunny side of life. The first single is already available: “The Dying Song (Time To Sing)”.

Dark even by Slipknot standards

A few months ago, in an interview on the SiriusXM show Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk, lead singer Corey Taylor hinted that the new material would be darker than that of We Are Not Your Kind, even calling it “homicidal” stuff. At the same time, Taylor gave a trigger warning: “The hard stuff attacks you very much, but you can also really get into the melodic stuff. There are a lot of great melodies and hooks. I’m very, very excited for people to hear it.”

In addition to the “hardest blues song in the world” (drummer Jay Weinberg), the LP should also deliver some sound innovations in the Slipknot cosmos, without being unfaithful to the chaos and energy of the past records.

The End, So Far was co-produced by Slipknot with Joe Barresi. The album also includes the recently leaked single “The Chapeltown Rag,” which hinted at the band’s “new” style.

Slipknot’s final album, We Are Not Your Kind, was released in 2019 and went to number one on the album charts in numerous countries.
