Too hot to stand at attention! The heat in the capital gave the Bundeswehr soldiers a hard time at their ceremonial pledge on Wednesday evening.

Around 400 recruits lined up in the Bendlerblock in Tiergarten to take their vows on the 78th anniversary of the failed assassination attempt on Adolf Hitler. But many made the heat difficult to create.

28 recruits developed circulatory problems during the event and had to be treated by doctors.

“All those affected are now back with their relatives – we are very happy about that!” Wrote the Ministry of Defense on Twitter in the evening. Three of them were also taken to the Bundeswehr hospital for treatment, a spokesman said.
