‘This is garbage’: ‘Resident Evil’ series on Netflix is being torn apart by audiences and critics

For many fans, the new “Resident Evil” series is horror – in the truest sense of the word. A mere 25% of reviews on Rotten Tomatoes are positive, while on IMDb the series scores 3.6 out of 10. This makes Resident Evil one of the lowest-rated TV shows of all time.

Criticism abounds in online forums. Comments range from “Yeah, that’s rubbish. It doesn’t pay to look” to “The quality obviously didn’t matter. It was all about making a profit.” There was also little positive news to be read on Twitter.

A few found the criticism exaggerated.

A world of monsters

The plot of the horror series has little to do with the movies from the noughties or video games from the 90s. The focus is on Jade Wesker, who is fighting for her survival in the year 2036. In a world full of zombies and terrifying creatures, she is looking for her missing sister Billie.
