Polium wants to develop “multi-chain console” especially for NFT games

The young startup Polium announced in early July via Twitter and on its website that it would be launching a “multi-chain console for Web3 gaming”. With the “Polium One” gamers should be able to play NFT games based on Solana, Ethereum, Polygon, Immutable X, BNB, Harmony, EOS or Wax. NFT games give an opportunity to win NFTs in a virtual world and thus earn money.

The “Polium One” can be pre-ordered via NFT purchase

To pre-order a Polium One, purchase one of a total of 10,000 Polium Pass NFTs. Polium Pass owners will then receive a console once it’s on the market. It should be that far in 2024. Then you only have to pay the transport costs, according to the Polium website.

So far, so good – on the internet, however, Polium is reaping a wide shitstorm, because the startup has already allowed itself a few missteps. The technical details don’t seem to make any sense, reports t3n: An 8K resolution with a refresh rate of up to 120 frames plus ray tracing and a controller with haptic feedback, touchpad and “wallet button” are much more than a startup of this size can implement , is the criticism. Since then, Polium has corrected the resolution down to 4K, and the initially announced “Touch ID” has also been renamed to “fingerprint reader” after the media pointed out that “Touch ID” is a term protected by Apple. In this context, t3n points out that a “fingerprint reader” is absolutely not the same as a “Touch ID”, but apparently refers to the same feature in Polium.

Polium defends his work on Twitter

In addition, Polium has repeatedly had to remove copyright-protected graphics from NFT games from its website and the company’s logo has been copied from Nintendo’s Gamecube. However, the startup denies this in a series of info tweets on Twitter. The logo was not stolen, but is already in the process of designing a new one. Polium goes on to say that there are no games yet. One is still in talks with game developers.

Sections of the community are certain that Polium is a rugpull

As Polium writes on its website, a prototype will be presented in November of this year. If he is convinced, things could calm down. At the moment, however, there are increasing numbers of voices on the company’s Discord server and in social media that Polium is planning a rug pull with the “Polium Pass” NFTs – i.e. secretly fleeing if enough customers bought tokens.

For example, on Twitter, in response to the link to the Discord channel, a user wrote: “Discord is the only one of these that actually exists.”
