Temperatures will rise sharply next week. It could be thirty degrees at the end of the week. Various (sports) events are preparing for the tropical conditions, such as Smèrrig Festival in Den Bosch, the Geldrop Triathlon and the Dominator hardcore festival in Eersel.
“We have to keep it fun for our visitors,” says Smèrrig’s organization. “We therefore provide shaded areas and sunburn.” Ronnie Flex and René Schuurmans will perform at the festival next Saturday and Sunday. The location, on the Engelermeer, is in any case good. “We are on the water, so it will probably be fine,” said a spokesperson.
Triathlon Geldrop
Saturday is also the Geldrop Triathlon. “We have extra water bottles to hand out,” says Erik Buring of the organization. “There will also be an extra water bowl with sponges, so that athletes can cool down.” If it really gets too hot, they shorten the match. “Particularly walking. And in the worst case, we can decide to stop completely.”
dominator
The organization of Dominator Festival in Eersel, Friday and Saturday, is also taking measures. This will provide more shaded areas, free drinking water and vending machines with sunscreen. In a Facebook post, the festival also announced water fights and places to swim.
childhood joy
At Kindervreugd in Helwijk, where they are organizing a fair next week to open the summer season, they are not yet working on a heat plan. “We are still meeting next week,” says Erik Maliepaard. “But at the moment we are not working on it at all. We will just have to wait and see if it really gets that warm.”
Fair Uden
At the fair in Uden they know what to do when it gets really hot. “If it gets warmer than thirty degrees, we start the heat protocol,” says spokesman Pascal Donkers. “Then we provide free water and cooling installations at the fair. If it really gets tropical, we can decide to open the fair later in the day. Then we don’t start at one o’clock, but at the end of the afternoon.” The fair in Uden starts on Friday 15 July.
