The riders in the Tour de France will have their first uphill finish on Friday in the seventh stage. This happens in the Vosges where, after a fairly easy run-up with La Super Planche des Belles Filles, the first col of the first category has to be climbed. The suffix super refers to the last section, which, after reaching the actual summit, leads up even further on a partly unpaved road.
There are two climbs of the third category on the way to the final climb. The top of La Planche des Belles Filles is after a climb over 7 kilometers with an average gradient of 8.7 percent. On the hardest part, shortly before the finish, the road slopes about 24 percent. The finish is expected around 5.15 pm.
Slovenian Tadej Pogacar will wear the yellow jersey for the first time in this edition. That conquered the two-time Tour winner of UAE Team Emirates on Thursday with the stage victory in Longwy. The Belgian Wout van Aert now wears the green points jersey instead of the yellow. The Dane Magnus Cort is still the leader in the mountains classification.
