The fashion brand Roland Mouret has found a new owner. This is the recently founded holding company SP Collection by designer Han Chong. In addition to Roland Mouret, Chong’s own label Self-Portrait is also part of the group.
As part of the acquisition announced on Friday, SP Collection acquired the trademark rights of Roland Mouret and the assets of the company 19 RM Limited, but not the staff and retail activities of the fashion house, which had to file for bankruptcy in November due to massive sales losses as a result of the Covid 19 pandemic . Designer Roland Mouret will therefore act as the brand’s “Founder and Creative Chair” in the future. The label is expected to present itself in its “new form” for the first time with the Resort Collection in 2023, announced SP Collection. The drafts are to be presented next June.
“I am very honored to have the opportunity to take this luxury brand to the next stage of their journey,” said Han Chong, CEO of SP Collection, in a statement. As part of the group, the label will “benefit from the infrastructure and resources that will be necessary for it to flourish in the years to come,” said Chong. The brand already has “a strong and respected tradition” and he is “excited to see how we can develop it for luxury customers all over the world,” said the new owner. He is also pleased that founder Roland Mouret will be “a part of this next chapter”.
