Newcomers four and five
SV Sandhausen struck twice on the transfer market. As the second division team announced on Monday, Joseph Ganda (25) from FC Admira Wacker Mödling and Abu-Bekir Ömer El-Zein (19), who was a youngster at BVB until recently, are coming to Hardtwald. The two players are signings four and five for the new season.
Ganda has played for Admira for the past two years, scoring two goals and five assists in 35 games. Sandhausen is the Israeli’s second stop in Germany, where he was under contract with FC Augsburg II in the 2019/20 season. “Joseph has tremendous physique and is very fast. He can be used on both outer lanes or can also play as a hanging tip. He has both feet and is an alternative for our offensive area,” SVS coach Alois Schwartz commented on the signing.
El-Zein, on the other hand, is making his first move to the men’s squad after spending four years with Borussia Dortmund’s youth squad before his contract expired on 30 June. Last season he made 35 appearances (nine goals/five assists) in the U19 team across all competitions. “Abu presented himself very well in the two weeks he trained with us. Abu is a central midfielder who has come a long way for his young age and who is given the opportunity to develop further with us,” said Sandhausen’s sporting director Mikayil Kabaca.
