French presidential candidate calls for lifting sanctions against Russia

French presidential candidate, journalist and writer Eric Zemmour, who founded the Reconquest (Reconquête) party, advocated the lifting of European sanctions against Russia. About this he declared broadcast on France 5 TV channel.

“I think that France could send friendly signals towards Russia, for example, by lifting sanctions. If I were president, I would say that there will be no more sanctions against Russia,” said Zemmour (quoted from “RIA News”).

He also stressed that France should cease to be a “tool” of the United States, which set up European countries against Russia. As soon as there is some kind of rapprochement between Russia and European countries, the United States tries to separate them, Zemmour noted.

Austria names exemptions from sanctions in case of invasion of Ukraine

The United States and European countries threaten Russia with sanctions in case of aggression against Ukraine. Thus, Democrats and Republicans in the US Congress have already developed options for restrictive measures. For example, Democratic Senator Robert Menendez and fellow party member Congressman Gregory Meeks have proposed sanctions against the Russian leadership, including President Vladimir Putin, financial institutions, the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, and Russian public debt.
