Women’s Eredivisie will be renamed next season with a new sponsor NOW

Media and entertainment platform Azerion has committed itself as namesake to the Women’s Eredivisie for three seasons. That competition will henceforth be known as the Azerion Women’s Eredivisie.

Azerion thus takes over from Pure Energie, last season the first namesake of the Women’s Eredivisie.

“In recent years, women’s football has made great strides forward. Azerion’s knowledge and experience can help us enormously to further increase attention for women’s football in the Netherlands,” says Kirsten van de Ven, manager of women’s football at the KNVB.

Due to the entry of Telstar and Fortuna Sittard, eleven teams will participate in the Women’s Eredivisie next season. Azerion and the KNVB have expressed the ambition to reach full stadiums in the competition.

“We believe in diversity and inclusion, inclusion and belonging. We want to invest in the future of women’s football so that new generations have more role models,” said Atilla Aytekin, CEO of Azerion.

Last season FC Twente Women conquered the national title. The schedule of the new competition has yet to be announced.
