US actress Mary Mara apparently drowned while swimming

US actress Mary Mara was found dead in a river near her home in Cape Vincent, New York, on Sunday morning (June 26), police said. She was 61 years old. Preliminary investigations suggest that she drowned while swimming in the St. Lawrence River. There are no signs of a crime: According to the authorities, the body showed no signs of violence. An autopsy will now determine the exact cause of death.

A face of 1990s American TV

Mara studied at San Francisco State University; she then graduated from the Yale School of Drama. Her first role was in the 1989 TV crime thriller Murder Without a Motive. Overall, she was involved in around 20 films and 40 TV productions – including several episodes of “Dexter” and “Star Trek: Enterprise”.

She became known in the 90s for her roles in the US series “Law & Order”, “Nash Bridges” and “Emergency Room”. According to the television channel “CNN”, she was last in front of the camera in 2020 for the film “Break Even”. A spokesman told Fox News of the late actress: “Mary was one of the best actresses I’ve ever met. She had a great sense of humor and a unique outlook on life.”
