Time for a new laptop? This is our favorite of the moment | Tech

We are at the beginning of the summer holidays, but before you know it a new school year starts and you need a new laptop. After weeks of testing, we have selected our favorite of about 900 euros.

This is a shortened version of a article on BestTested about the best laptops of the moment.

The tests at BestGetest are performed in collaboration with the Tweakers test lab. With special measuring software, the speed of the processor, SSD storage and the working memory, for example, is well understood, while the screen and the battery life are also carefully examined.

Finally, we check the connections, the touchpad and the keyboard to check the general quality. This creates a good picture of the best laptop of the moment, with the model below emerged as the winner.

‌Note: The run-through of models in the laptop market is currently moving at a rapid pace. As a result, some models in this guide may not be available at the time of reading this.

Best tested: Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 (13ACN5)

The Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 is a thin laptop with a 13.3-inch screen and a resolution of 2560 by 1600 pixels. That makes it sharper than average, which we don’t often see for this price. It is, however, a glossy screen, which is often a bit disturbing if it is very light around you.

The battery life is reasonable: the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 is not a high flyer with 9 hours, but you can have a good day ahead. Especially considering that the screen has such a high resolution, which also costs more energy, 9 hours is very acceptable.

Moreover, it is a fast laptop, because the processor is one of the fastest you can get in this price range. It has a RAM of 16GB and a storage memory (SSD) of 512GB. More than adequate for the average worker.

Cheaper alternative: Acer Swift 3 (SF314-43-R2LX)

Around this class, most laptops have a processor with four or six cores, but this Acer has eight. That makes it faster than many competitors. The 16GB RAM and the 512GB SSD complete the picture that this laptop offers good specifications for its money.

It is also a very light laptop (1.2 kg), but that is also a disadvantage. The housing is partly made of plastic and is therefore light, but can also give a little under that pressure. You can see this, for example, when you press hard on the keyboard or the touchpad.

The good specifications also seem to force Acer to cut back on other points, such as the image. Basically, it’s a great screen, with a Full HD resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. It is also provided with a matte coating, which minimizes reflections. However, the maximum brightness is disappointing and the screen cannot display the full color spectrum of the sRGB standard. Most cheaper laptops can’t do that either, but in this price category there are more and more laptops that can.
