Dylan van Baarle is part of the INEOS Grenadiers squad for the Tour de France. The British cycling team takes three riders for the classification with Geraint Thomas, Adam Yates and Daniel Martínez.
It will be the seventh time that Van Baarle will ride the Tour de France. The thirty-year-old Dutchman already made an impression this season by writing Paris-Roubaix to his name. He has never won a stage in a Grand Tour.
With Thomas, Yates and Martínez, INEOS goes to the Tour without an outspoken leader. Thomas, 36, won the 2018 Tour de France and was recently the best in the Tour de Suisse.
The 29-year-old Yates got off in the Tour of Switzerland earlier this month because of a positive corona test, but can participate in the Tour. The 26-year-old Martínez won this year’s Tour of the Basque Country.
Two-time world time trial champions Filippo Ganna and Tom Pidcock are about to make their Tour de France debut. Jonathan Castroviejo and Luke Rowe round out the eight-man roster. Michal Kwiatkowski is missing due to a muscle tear.
The Tour de France starts on Friday with a time trial of 13.2 kilometers in the Danish capital Copenhagen, a stage that is tailor-made for specialist Ganna. The most important Grand Tour of the year lasts until July 24.
