Soufian Charraoui of Hovocubo scored the absurd number of 51 (!) goals last season. Partly because of this, the 25-year-old futsal player received offers from Italy, Portugal, Saudi Arabia and France. Ultimately, Mouvaux Lille Métropole Futsal becomes his new club.
“I made that choice with feeling,” explains Charraoui. “I have taken the road that I want to play futsal as a professional. For example, training twice a day, a house and car through the club and the entire financial picture. I have wanted to be involved in the sport professionally for a long time. That is why I decided to chase my dream.”
According to Charraoui, the French league is a lot tougher and stronger than the premier league. “I already know a number of guys who play there through the Moroccan national team, from tournaments or via social media. Lille finished second behind Sporting Paris last season. Unfortunately, we are not qualified for the Champions League, but in theory it could still be possible. .” Russian clubs are likely to be disqualified due to the war in Ukraine. Therefore, there is still a small chance of Champions League participation.

The futsal player played only three years at Hovocubo and retired with the championship. Nevertheless, Charraoui speaks of ‘the best period of his life’. “I played with some guys I grew up with, which was fantastic. We had a team that could compete with big clubs from Europe. I am very grateful to everyone, only I wanted to play as a pro. That was not possible with Hovo, so this is a good step for my development.”

Morocco
In the beginning of his career, Charraoui was an international for Orange, but decided to choose Morocco in December. He is currently at the Arab Cup in Saudi Arabia. “Morocco is number twelve in the world. In addition, they participate in the Africa Cup and the World Cup. For my development it was better to choose Morocco.”
On Friday, Charraoui was in the quarterfinals of the Arab Cup with Morocco. In it, Libya was defeated 3-0. The semi-final against Egypt is scheduled for Sunday.
