Monigo is doing well once again. Italy under 20 did not cue on their debut against Georgia in the 6 Nations Summer Series, winning 36-19. Despite a renewed line-up compared to the Six Nations which saw Massimo Brunello’s blues win three games, the result does not change, confirming the goodness of the technical project and the growth of the youth sector. Absent in fact Ferrari, Odiase and Garbisi above all, some due to injury, some because called up with the eldest. Excellent performance by Vintcent who, designated captain for the competition, celebrated the investiture with the goal that opened the second half and simultaneously closed the accounts on 29-12 in favor of Italy. First half
–
Georgia showed more hunger than the Azzurri, throwing themselves into Italy’s 5 after less than two minutes, taking advantage of two inaccuracies of their opponents. Second half
–
After an excellent first fraction, Georgia disunited, committing too many fouls and losing effectiveness in attack. It is Italy that still finds the way to the goal, with Cuoghi who perfectly picks Vintcent between two opponents, freeing him for the 27-12 then replenished by Teneggi’s foot. Despite the obvious difficulties of the Georgian team, the Azzurri often and willingly look for the effect game, without the concreteness necessary to further expand the advantage. This is before Sante’s play, who with a 50-22 brings the Azzurrini back into the 5 Georgians, but the guests are good at blocking the maul still led by Frangini. To revive the contest is a magic of Aptsiauri who with a body feint brings Georgia back to the opponent’s half: it is the Georgian winger himself who scores the 29-19 goal and gives pathos to a subdued second fraction, accomplices warmth and score. E ‘Mey to close the game stealing the oval from the hands of an opponent first and serving in offload a free Cuminetti; Sante’s foot marks the final 36-19.
