Vincent Janssen returns to Europe. The attacker, born in Heesch, has signed a four-year contract with Royal Antwerp. The Belgian club takes over the 28-year-old striker from the Mexican Monterrey.

A week ago, Janssen in the red and white of SV TOP was on the training field of the Dutch national team. The striker played a few days later in the international match against Wales. His call for the Dutch national team came as a complete surprise to many football fans, also because he did not make a great impression in Mexico in terms of statistics.

In the shirt of his first amateur club and later in the black of the Dutch national team, he showed himself again to the general public. And he can do that more often from now on, because in the coming years he will play at the highest level in Belgium. Janssen previously played for Almere City, AZ Alkmaar, Tottenham Hotspur and Fenerbahçe. He made a big impression in his first year in Alkmaar, when he became top scorer in the Eredivisie with 27 goals.

Janssen, who has played in Mexico since 2019 and won the title, cup and the CONCACAF Champions League there, will meet several compatriots at Antwerp. Marc Overmars is director of football affairs at the Bosuil, while Mark van Bommel is the head coach.
