The Serbian tennis player will not be able to participate in the fourth Grand Slam of the season as he is not yet vaccinated

The American Grand Slam confirmed that Russians and Belarusians will compete in the tournament under a neutral flag

It seems that Novak Djokovic’s bad dream and his relationship with the Covid-19 vaccine has not yet come to an end. After the ordeal that the Serbian experienced at the beginning of the season, where he was left out of several tournaments, it seems that the ghosts reappear.

To day of today Djokovic could not compete in the US Open since the United States authorities still request a vaccination certificate against the coronavirus from all foreigners who want to enter the country. A certificate that Djokovic does not have, since he has repeatedly stated his refusal to get the vaccine.

Djokovic’s last precedent in a similar case took place during the Masters 1,000 in Indian Wells, when he was included in the tournament’s seeding list as the first seed… despite the fact that finally he could not attend the tournament because he was not vaccinated.

It will allow Russian and Belarusian tennis players to play

At Roland Garros, Russian and Belarusian tennis players were able to compete. At Wimbledon, on the other hand, their participation will be prohibited for his country’s invasion of Ukraine. Now, the third Grand Slam to rule on the matter has been the US Open.

Just like Roland Garros, the USTA (United States Tennis Association), it will allow Russian and Belarusian tennis players from the men’s and women’s circuit to participate. But, as happens in all ATP and WTA tournaments, they will have to do it under a neutral flag and not that of your country.
