The International Football Association Board (IFAB) football rulebook are planning the revolution on the sidelines. In order to make the game faster, there could soon be a kick-in instead of a throw-in. This is reported by “Sky Sports”.

Accordingly, the IFAB gave the green light for a pilot project at the General Assembly in Doha (Qatar). This is to take place in the second Dutch league.

The kick-in is not an entirely new idea. Ex-coach Arsene Wenger (72), who is responsible for global football promotion at FIFA, had spoken out in favor of it last year.

The former Arsenal coach: “There are currently two big time wasters: throw-ins and free-kicks. The goal is to make the game more spectacular and faster. Maybe kick-ins with a time limit of five seconds, for example, could help.”

According to the IFAB, a “fairer calculation of playing time” is also being examined. Means: Similar to basketball, the game time is stopped when the ball is not in play.

Chaired by football boss Gianni Infantino (52), the ongoing attempts at concussion substitutions, possible alternatives to offside and the latest technological developments to assist match officers were also discussed in Doha.
