Jurriën Timber and Nathan Aké will not play on Tuesday evening during the home game of the Dutch national team against Wales in the Nations League. The two have been left out of the selection by national coach Louis van Gaal for the game in De Kuip.
Van Gaal already said on Saturday after the game with Poland (2-2) that Timber is in urgent need of a holiday, according to him. Like Aké, Timber was in the Orange squad this international match against Belgium (1-4 win) and Poland (2-2 draw).
Van Gaal previously revealed that he will let many players play against Wales who did not play against Poland on Saturday. Matthijs de Ligt is the captain of Orange. Vincent Janssen gets another chance after five years as center striker and goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen returns under the bar.
Gareth Bale has been included in the squad for Wales. The star player, who will leave Real Madrid on a free transfer this summer, did not get any further than a substitute against the Orange squad last week. That game in Cardiff ended with a late goal by Wout Weghorst in a 1-2 win for the Orange.
The Netherlands is the leader of group 4 of the A division halfway through the group stage with seven points. Belgium and Poland follow with four points. Wales have only one point after three games. The last two group matches are scheduled for the end of September.
The game between the Netherlands and Wales starts on Tuesday at 8.45 pm and is led by Romanian referee Horatiu Fesnic.
