Managua – Nicaragua President Daniel Ortega has authorized Russia to station an unspecified number of military personnel, warplanes and ships in the Central American country. This gives the Russians a foothold in the American sphere of influence again. Previously, Russia had a military base in Cuba. It closed in 2002.
