Robert Lewandowski’s change request keeps Bayern on their toes. Now the former Munich professional Michael Rummenigge has joined the debate about the Polish superstar.

The fronts between Robert Lewandowski and FC Bayern are currently hardened. The world footballer wants to leave this summer and has already publicly made it clear that the chapter is closed for him. So far, however, the record champions have not thought about letting the goal-getter go in the summer.

In the opinion of Michael Rummenigge, younger brother of longtime Bayern boss Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, the club must create facts in a timely manner.

“If you heard Lewandowski’s statements at a press conference in Poland this week, then that’s strong stuff in relation to FC Bayern,” said the 58-year-old in an interview with the newspaper.Augsburg General“.

According to Rummenigge, however, it was “difficult” for the German industry leader to meet the veteran’s wishes, after all, “no suitable replacement could be found”.

Causa Lewandowski: Rummenigge compares FC Bayern and BVB

Rummenigge can therefore understand the hard line of Bayern officials.

“The fact is that Lewandowski still has a contract and should fulfill it. Just like in Dortmund when he wanted to switch to Bayern Munich early, but then stayed and gave everything in his last year at BVB,” said the former offensive player a comparison.

Despite his “advanced footballing age”, the 33-year-old could “certainly play at this level for two more years”, emphasized Rummenigge.

Should the FCB star (be allowed to) leave, however, Munich’s supremacy in German football would shake. “If he stays with Bayern Munich, the next champion is certain for me. If he leaves, the chances for Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig increase,” predicted Rummenigge, who himself once went in search of goals for BVB.
