This year’s Grammys will be presented on April 3 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, the Recording Academy confirmed on Wednesday (January 19).
A show is still planned. Trevor Noah, known as the host of the “Daily Show” and already hosting the Grammys 2021 in 2021, will be on stage to greet the numerous award winners.
The Grammy Awards were actually supposed to take place on January 31 in front of a full house in the Crypto.com Arena (formerly Staples Center) in Los Angeles, but the corona pandemic, which was shaped by the omicron variant, did not allow such an event. The relocation was announced on January 5th.
Criticism of the Academy
Several sources had previously expressed their displeasure to the journal Variety that the Grammys should basically take place like in pandemic-free times. It’s likely that this put pressure on the Academy to make another decision.
Numerous dates related to the Grammy show, such as the “MusiCares Person of the Year” benefit concert in honor of Joni Mitchell, are to be announced in the coming days and weeks.
