Earl Swavey is dead. This was reported by Pitchfork on January 11, 2022 citing a Swavey spokesman. The day of death and the cause of death of the Los Angeles rapper are not yet known. Swavey was 26 years old.
Swavey grew up in south Los Angeles with his mother. Pitchfork reports that he turned to rap thanks to the influence of his brother, cousin and Jay Rock. TI, Rick Ross and 50 Cent also played a role in the further course of his young career. Earl Swavey’s song “Beef”, released on his mixtape BUSINESS BEFORE PLEASURE in 2013, appealed to A$AP Mob founder A$AP Yams, which led to a friendship and the shared track “Uza Trikk” by and with LNDN DRGS. Yams died in 2015 after an accidental overdose.
Earl Swavey had released three albums in 2021: UNPHUCKWITABLE, GANGLAND 4 and THE DIRTIEST.
Many rappers said goodbye to Swavey on their social media channels. Vince Staples simply tweeted: “Rest in Peace to the great Earl Swavey”.
