Number two behind Drewes
SV Sandhausen has extended the expiring contract with keeper Nikolai Rehnen for another year. The 25-year-old was signed at short notice in September 2021 and was directly between the posts in the first game against 1. FC Heidenheim (1: 3). Patrick Drewes (29) was then given preference again, and in January Rehnen also sustained a meniscus injury that put him out of action until the end of the season.
“Nikolai showed in the last season until his injury that he fits in very well with our goalkeeping team, both on a human level and in a sporting sense. He is a modern, courageous keeper who has the footballing qualities required in today’s goalkeeping game and also has a lot of potential for development. I’m happy to continue working with Niko and to be able to accompany him on his way to old strength, because I’m convinced of that,” said SVS goalkeeping coach Daniel Ischdonat.
