Mayor Assen closes restaurant in Rolderstraat due to threat

Mayor Marco Out van Assen closes restaurant Hollywood in the Rolderstraat for three months. The reason is an incident in the night from Saturday to Sunday.

Then the police arrested a 32-year-old man from Assen who threatened with a firearm. It turned out to be an alarm pistol that was indistinguishable from a real firearm.

According to Out, the sense of safety of customers, local residents and entrepreneurs has been affected. The mayor takes the incident seriously because the Rolderstraat previously had to deal with crime and nuisance.

A few years ago, the municipality and the police took measures to make the street safer, such as camera surveillance and a ban on gatherings. “Although these measures have recently ended, the Rolderstraat is still a vulnerable street,” said Out. “As mayor, I therefore attach great importance to the feeling of safety of the residents, entrepreneurs and visitors of the Rolderstraat.”
