The date for 2022 is set, but one detail is still missing

“Wetten, dass..?” is finally back. That was already clear last year after the show, initially planned as a one-off anniversary show, when ZDF officials were delighted to see the ratings (over 14 million viewers, plus a 50 percent market share). The audience was no less pleased about the friendly, nostalgic return, of course with Thomas Gottschalk.

So the green light was given early for 2022 – and now the broadcast date has been set: November 19th. “DWDL” found out. However, the venue is still unclear. In the old days, the hall where the hustle and bustle took place always changed from show to show. In 2021 “Wetten, dass..?” ran in Nuremberg.

“Wetten, dass…?”: At least until 2023 with Thomas Gottschalk

“We will communicate further details in due course,” said a station spokeswoman when asked by the media magazine. A few months ago, the show’s producers asked viewers to submit their betting ideas for the upcoming edition of “Wetten, dass..?”. ZDF also recently announced that plans for an annual show would also include 2023 and that Thomas Gottschalk would continue to moderate.

Invented by Frank Elstner, “Wetten, dass..?” After its launch in 1981, it quickly developed into a TV giant, the biggest TV show in Europe. Nobody shaped the show more than moderator Thomas Gottschalk. After the tragic accident of the betting candidate Samuel Koch, however, he withdrew in 2011. Rather surprisingly, talk show host Markus Lanz took over. Although he found his own style in his 16 programs, he could not change the ratings, which had been falling for years. On December 13, 2014, what was supposed to be the last number of “Wetten, dass..?” was shown in Nuremberg. But now it says: The show must go on.
