The 17 minutes he did play stood for the 17 seasons he played for the club. He received a thunderous ovation from fellow players and spectators in the duel with Lazio Roma before he gave up his place to Dutch international Matthijs de Ligt.
Chiellini has played for Juventus since 2005, winning nine times. He also won the cup five times. He lost the final of the Champions League twice, in 2015 and 2017. Last year he became European champion with Italy. It is not yet clear whether he will continue his career at another club.
