Liu Shaoziyang was brought permanently to Munich by the Chinese club Wuhan Three Towns and signed a contract with the record champions until 2025. Now the talented goalkeeper could soon leave the club – for one simple reason.
The 18-year-old youngster, who already trained with the FC Bayern U19 team in the summer, should gain as much match practice as possible in order to be optimally prepared for a career in the professional field.
Shaoziyang, as a non-EU foreigner, does not have a license to play in the fourth-rate regional league Bayern, in which FC Bayern II is chasing goals and is aiming for a return to the third division, as well as in the A-Jugend-Bundesliga Süd / Südwest. At least that’s what the “tz” on Thursday.
Since he will not be allowed to play for the Bayern Reserve as long as the team of coach Martin Demichelis is still playing in the fourth-rate amateur league, a different path should now be taken to help the talented goalkeeper to play times.

As the media report goes on to say, Shaoziyang is to be awarded to the Austrian first division club Austria Klagenfurt. As early as the second half of the season in January, the teenager could play for Klagenfurt, which, by the way, is being coached by ex-1860 Munich coach Peter Pacult.
It was clear to Bavaria’s campus manager Jochen Sauer from the start that the young goalkeeper would not be eligible to play in Germany. A loan deal with a professional club in a European elite league was therefore factored in anyway.
By the way: The lack of eligibility to play for non-EU citizens has already been softened in recent years by several exceptions. So it was very possible for the Canadian Alphonso Davies, as an 18-year-old jewel, to play three regional league games for FC Bayern II two years ago.
There is also an exception with the USA. But not with China so far, which is why the Bavarians have now apparently decided on a loan deal.
