On Saturday evening, no train traffic was possible to and from Utrecht Central Station. The NS had decided to do this because it is not possible to stop on a number of platforms due to the discovery of a suitcase left behind at Utrecht Central Station. After investigation by the police, it turned out to be a false alarm
“The suitcase left behind at Utrecht Central station has been examined by the TEV officer of the police and it is a false alarm. Train traffic will resume,” the Utrecht Police said on Twitter.
According to a spokeswoman for the NS, this situation could lead to serious disruption of train traffic in a large part of the Netherlands, because Utrecht is an important junction. “It may be that trains that were on their way continue to the next station. Or they stop one station earlier, or turn around,” said the spokeswoman.
De achtergebleven koffer op #station #Utrecht centraal is onderzocht door de TEV'er van de politie en het is loos alarm. Het treinverkeer wordt weer hervat.
