Deutsche Bahn makes Frankfurt fans an “offer” – special train to Seville?

Eintracht Frankfurt made history on Thursday. The club cleared the ticket to the Europa League final. But how do the fans get to Seville? Deutsche Bahn has an idea.

The Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán Stadium in Seville has almost 44,000 spectator seats. Far too little for a final between Glasgow Rangers and Eintracht Frankfurt. Because this season hardly any clubs moved such crowds of fans as the two traditional clubs that reached the final of this year’s Europa League.

Tens of thousands of supporters of both clubs are expected. Regardless of whether they have a ticket or not, many fans will travel to Andalucia to support their team. The rush for accommodation and flights is already underway. But Deutsche Bahn also has an idea.

At least the group tweeted on Friday: “We have a few Eintracht fans in the team here, and we negotiated a deal with them: with 753,056 likes, we’ll send a special train to Seville.”

The number is not random: it is the population of Frankfurt in 2019. If you google “residents of Frankfurt”, you will get this number.

As of Friday, 12:40 p.m., the tweet “only” had around 40,000 likes. The railway would possibly be satisfied with fewer than around 750,000 likes. The only question would be whether a Europe-wide train journey from Germany to southern Spain could be implemented within less than two weeks.
