Munich (AP) – The free transfer from full-back Noussair Mazraoui from Ajax Amsterdam to German soccer champions FC Bayern Munich is about to be completed. This was reported by the “Bild” newspaper.
Accordingly, “everything has been clarified” with the 24-year-old Moroccan international. Medical checks are said to have already taken place.
Ever since Hansi Flick was coach, Bayern have been looking for a convincing personnel solution on the right-hand side of defence. World champion Benjamin Pavard, who also plays on the right in the French national team, has been pushing into central defense for a long time. If Mazraoui is signed, coach Julian Nagelsmann could plan more in the center of defense with Pavard. There is a vacancy there due to the free transfer from national defender Niklas Süle to Borussia Dortmund.
In addition to Mazraoui, his teammate Ryan Gravenberch is also set to move from Amsterdam to Munich. The clubs still have to agree on a transfer fee. The 19-year-old midfielder is under contract with Ajax until June 30, 2023. Ajax recently announced that Gravenberch has injured his left ankle and will not play again this season.
