Hans-Joachim Watzke rejects a challenge to FC Bayern

After FC Bayern’s tenth championship in a row, Borussia Dortmund’s managing director Hans-Joachim Watzke refrains from explicitly challenging the record champions for the coming season.

“As every year, the other clubs will try to interrupt the championship cycle, despite the immense economic differences. Every fan should know that this is anything but easy and only works if Bayern offer something in terms of points in the league be aware,” said the BVB boss to “Sport Bild”.

Watzke added: “Full-bodied slogans don’t score any points anyway, in the end only continuous performances on the pitch decide.”

FC Bayern had made their next title perfect with a 3-1 win over BVB on Saturday. With three games to go, the lead over second-placed Dortmund is a whopping twelve points.

RB Leipzig wants title “before 2032”

Oliver Mintzlaff, managing director of RB Leipzig, considers the championship possible for his club in the medium term.

“Our goal is to achieve the maximum every season. That can also mean the championship at some point. If we continue on this path so persistently, it should be possible to do this before 2032,” said the official of fourth in the table.

For this, according to Mintzlaff, RB need “in the future such stable performance and consistency as in the current second half of the season, i.e. an almost perfect season from the first to the last day of the game”.

The Saxons are in first place in the second half of the table, even ahead of FC Bayern thanks to the slightly better goal difference.

Reiner Calmund: “FC Bayern’s dominance will remain because…”

However, the long-standing Bundesliga manager Reiner Calmund does not expect Munich’s supremacy to end any time soon. “FC Bayern’s dominance remains because they have worked out the highest budget for decades.”

In addition, the club’s management is “better positioned than any other,” said the 73-year-old. “Bavaria is the leader in the three Ks that are decisive for success – competence, concept, capital.”
