After weeks of rumors, it is now official: Erik ten Hag will leave Ajax after this season and become a trainer of Manchester United. We look back on his time in Amsterdam.
It all started in January 2018 when a still unknown Ten Hag came over from FC Utrecht. Immediately upon his arrival it is clear: this is not an Amsterdammer. Ten Hag always remained the level-headed trainer he always is.
Yet Ajax dominated in Europe under Ten Hag. Ajax came through the group stage unbeaten and beat the great Real Madrid and Juventus. For the first time since the 1990s, the club counted again with the European top.
Ten Hag won in total: two national titles, two KNVB cups and the Johan Cruijff Scale. And, of course, another bowl may be added this season. Five more games and then Ten Hag will leave.
